Although it may not look like it, glass is very porous and can easily soak up soap scum, dirt and hard water, etc. in the pores of the glass. This can cause corrosion over time making the glass appear dull. The best way to care for your glass is to maintain a cleaning schedule. Here are a few cleaning tips to help maintain your glass’ shine:
- It is recommended to squeegee your shower glass starting from the top down in vertical motions after every use.
- Only use products that are ammonia and isopropanol free.
- 1-part white kitchen vinegar and 2 parts water mixed in a spray bottle is a great natural cleaner that can also help remove existing hard water stains.
- Use lint free microfiber towels to dry the glass in circular motions to avoid streaks in the glass.

The protective glass coating helps prevent hard water stains and build up on the glass by acting as a barrier between the water/soap/etc. and the pores of the glass.
